We were invited to make a short film for the inaugural F5 festival (organised by the people at motionographer). There was no real brief, just a few reference words, 'refresh, renewal, rejuvenation'.
Our intention from the outset was to make something experimental, technically challenging, slightly ethereal, and for reasons we can't quite remember (they made sense at the time) set in an empty swimming pool.
We had been playing around with the idea of making a film using 3d pixels (or Voxels) where we could describe and animate organic shapes and forms using simple cubes, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a go.
